One’s art is essentially a byproduct of experimentation, inspiration and one’s life experience. Although these elements are present in the final work, it is impossible to truly comprehend the parts that make up the whole by simply viewing a final product. “Works In Progress” is a conceptual piece that challenges the viewer to experience the artist’s life alongside his work.
For “Overstimulated” at the South Street Seaport, rather than show finished work Liam transported his Bushwick studio and took up residency in the South Street Seaport space in an effort to illuminate the artistic process, by living it out in a space traditionally reserved for exhibition of final work. This presents the opportunity for onlookers to observe the process and state of being of the individual that informs the creation of the art.
Originally exhibited, April 2010 at the South Street Seaport, NY, NY.
